Tim Adams Riesling 2011
Rizza Dizza?
Price: $20
“A new tasting term popped into my head last night while I was giving this wine a good going over, and it’s a recurrent theme in 2011 SE Australian whites. That term is ‘rain washed’, and it can be positive or negative, depending on the extent of the washing. In the positive it presents as delicate, slightly dilute, but sparklingly pure and clean – the acidity having nervous energy and clear cut lines. In the negative, just washed out and insipid. Citrus and juicy exotic perfume first, then an intense citrus burst along with granny smith and green mango – the flavour is delicate yet dry and focussed. There’s a spine of tingling acidity, lemon and flinty cut, and excellent length – long clear and crisp. Refreshing. Rain washed, yes, but as a summer shower on a warm day. Cue slow motion of attractive person shaking off water.” GW
