Poggiotondo IGT Toscana Rosso Organic Sangiovese Canaiolo 2017

70% organic Sangiovese and 30% organic Canaiolo from the Toscana IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) appellation.  Fermented in cement tank without oak maturation to capture the vibrant essence of the grapes.

A savoury, earthy wine with fascinating aromas of herbs and dark spices, supported by firm, dry tannins.

Vinification

A five-day cold soak gave a soft and gentle pre-fermentation extraction from the skins. Fermentation took place in cement tank and lasted seven days after which it was pressed.  The wine remained in cement tanks for eight months before bottling.

Tasting notes

Nice depth of colour with an intensely perfumed nose of red and black berries with a spicy character. On the palate, savoury, spicy, juicy notes, excellent length and a fragrant finish.
