Mount Avoca ‘Moates Lane’ Sauvignon Blanc 2022

COLOUR

Clear, bright straw.

NOSE

Freshly cut gooseberry, melon and hints of and lemon grass.

PALATE

Sun kissed pineapple, passion fruit and melon with a sofy fruity mid-palate and clean lemon sherbert finish.

WINEMAKING

The wine is an assembly of free run juice harvest several Loire clones. Fermentation is long and cool being generally three weeks between 10-12°C to retain sincere aromatic and flavour expression. Typical Pyrenees Sauvignon character exhibited with its long lingering flavour length affording it to be paired with more robust food faire than is the norm for this wine variety.

FOOD PAIRING

Asian greens, tempura, oysters au naturel, salt and pepper calamari, sashimi

VINTAGE NOTES

Cool conditions in early spring led into a warm and dry period for flowering producing a balanced crop load across all varieties. A warm dry summer subsided into a prolonged cool autumn and the subsequent extended 2022 growing season created optimum ripening conditions for full flavour development prior to a slighter later harvest.
