Mount Avoca ‘Estate’ ‘Old Vine’ Shiraz 2021

COLOUR
Dark intense plum red with moderate cling and dark purple hue on the swirl.

NOSE
Clean pronounced aromas of blueberry, spicy plum and an emerging sweet cinnamon toast complexity.

PALATE
Clean full bodied flavours of cocoa covered cherry, fresh blackberry, subtle vanilla kirsch cradled within a brittle yet soft tannin framework.  A satisfyingly long finish of  summer berries and toasted pistachio with hints of native pepper berry.

WINEMAKING
The fruit was harvested from mature vines in selected sections of A & B on the estate vineyard. Open vat vinification techniques applied with minimal intervention preserve regional identity.

FOOD PAIRING
This is an ideal match with refined meat dishes such as roast lamb, Wagyu, terrines and stews.

VINTAGE NOTES
Frosts in November ’19 and a heatwave mid-flowering reduced crop by 50%. Season thereafter was kind with a cool period enhancing flavour development. A difficult vintage in many regions, our vineyard maintained quality although yield was low.
